Support moves in the Routing page allow operational teams to document and organize non-container steps within a load’s movement. These moves appear seamlessly in sequence with container events.
Purpose of Support Moves in Routing
In many workflows, drivers must complete steps such as dropping or terminating a chassis either before or after handling a container. Support moves ensure these steps are properly logged within the routing and not treated as out-of-band or untracked activity.
How to Add and Manage Support Moves in Routing
Access the Routing Page Navigate to a load and select the Routing tab to view and manage events.
Insert a Support Move Drag a support move (such as Terminate Chassis) into the sequence as needed. Support moves can follow container events or be used to initiate or close out a route.
Review Auto-Synced Information Some fields, like arrival times or addresses, may appear greyed out. These are synced from the previous event to maintain consistency and prevent duplication.
Dispatch the Routing When sending the routing to the mobile app, all container and support moves will be included. Drivers will receive the complete sequence as a single operational flow.
Example of Support Moves in Routing
Scenario: A support move (Terminate Chassis) is added after the driver completes a container return at the terminal.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough:
1. Open the Routing Tab
From the load details page, click on the Routing tab to access the full route event list for the load.
2. Add the Support Move
Insert a Terminate Chassis move by dragging and dropping it into the event timeline after the Return Container step.
3. Review the Synced Fields
Note that some information (such as Arrive time or location) may be grayed out on the Terminate Chassis move. This happens because it auto-syncs with the previous container move (e.g., Return Container) to maintain continuity.
4. Dispatch to Driver
Click the green checkmark icon beside the container move. The support move will be included automatically in the routing sent to the driver’s mobile app
