Load Duplication: Impact of the Routing Template Checkbox

Modified on Sat, 28 Jun at 7:01 PM

When duplicating a load and selecting the "Create with Routing Template" option, the system does not replicate the specific supporting moves, such as Stop Offs, from the original load. Instead, it defaults to the system's predefined routing template, which may not include the same events.

Behavior Explanation

  • With "Create with Routing Template" selected:

    • The system applies the default routing template configured in system settings.

    • Custom routing events or stop-offs from the original load are not copied.

  • With "Create with Routing Template" unchecked:

    • The system retains the original load's routing and stop-offs.

    • This is the preferred method if the intent is to replicate the exact routing from the source load.

Recommended Action

To preserve all routing events, supporting moves, and stop-offs when duplicating a load:

Uncheck the "Create with Routing Template" option during load duplication.

Why This Happens

Routing templates are designed to standardize load creation. However, when used during duplication, they override the original routing logic in favor of the template’s default structure. For cases requiring exact duplication, disabling this option ensures full replication of the original route.

Best Practice

Only use the Routing Template option when standard routing is desired. For duplicating loads with unique routing configurations, always leave the checkbox unchecked.
