How POD Time Zones Are Determined in the Driver App

Modified on Tue, 3 Jun at 2:03 AM

Overview

This article explains how Proof of Delivery (POD) timestamps are generated in the PortPro Driver App, and clarifies which time zone is applied when a POD is submitted.

Time Zone Logic

The POD timestamp in the Driver App is based on the time zone of the company profile, not the driver’s current GPS location.

This means:

  • Regardless of where the driver is physically located, the time recorded for POD submission will reflect the company’s configured time zone.

  • The timestamp is consistent across all documentation and load records tied to the delivery.

Example Scenario

If a company is based in Pacific Standard Time (PST) and a driver completes a delivery in Mountain Standard Time (MST), the submitted POD timestamp will still show in PST, matching the company's base time zone.

Why This Matters

This design provides consistency in:

  • Reporting: Uniform timestamps for auditing and analytics

  • Billing: Ensures detention windows and cutoff times align with company policy

  • Compliance: Supports multi-state or multi-region fleets operating across time zones

By anchoring all POD activity to the company’s time zone, PortPro ensures that delivery records remain consistent regardless of where your drivers travel.
