Driver Base Pay

Summary

This article shows how to set up base pay for your drivers using various scenarios such as per move, per mile, and per hour.

Details

There are several ways to configure base pay for drivers in the system. Each method applies depending on the pay structure your organization uses.

Per Move Pay

Set up base pay per movement type. Common combinations include:

  • Pick and Run + Drop and Hook

  • Prepull + Live Unload

  • Drop at Yard + Return

  • Live Unload Only

  • One Way Move

These are configured in the driver pay section and linked to move types during dispatch or route matching.

Must be done from Advanced Route Matching in Tariffs:

Per Mile Pay

Drivers can be paid a flat rate per mile.

Example:

  • Driver is paid $2 per mile.

  • If a driver drives 15 miles, and the rate is compounded:

    • First 10 miles = 10 × $2 = $20

    • Over 10 miles flat = $100

    • Total = $120

You can configure compounding rates that switch from per-mile to a flat rate after a certain mileage threshold.

In example below, the driver would be paid $2 per mile.

Radius Rate

In the example below, the driver would be paid $2 per mile for driving 1-10 miles, but if they hit 11+ miles, they would be paid $100 flat.

The compounding radius rate can be used to combine fixed and per unit mileage rates, if used for the example above and the driver drove 15 miles, they would be paid $2 per mile x 10 miles = $20 + $100.

Per Hour Pay

Drivers can be paid based on time spent on a move.

Example:

  • Driver earns $25/hour.

  • Once the move is completed, timestamps are calculated and converted into pay.

Ensure timestamp data is accurate for proper calculation.
