Overview of Cut Column and Return Day Dates Logic

How the Return Day Is Calculated

The Return Day field in the Load Info is based on two key factors:

  • Container Retrieval Date

  • Total Free Days applied to the container

When a container is retrieved, the system adds the number of free days to that date to calculate the return deadline.

To view or adjust the source of these free days, navigate to:
Settings > Container Settings > Free Days

This section defines the rules the system uses to calculate how many days are granted before return.

Important Notes to Remember:

  • The day of container interchange is counted as Day 1 in the Free Days allowance.

    • For example, if the total Free Days allowance is 4, the value entered should be 3, since the day of pickup counts as the first day.

  • Example:

    • If an ST (Standard) MSC (SSL) container is retrieved on June 20th and the Free Days section lists 3 days, the Return Day field in Load Info and the CUT column should display 6/23.

  • Weekend exception:

    • When a container is retrieved on a Friday, the first weekend typically does not count toward the Free Days total.

    • For example, if an ST MSC container is pulled on Friday, June 20th, with 3 Free Days listed, the Return Day and CUT date should reflect 6/25.
