How to Prevent Appointments for Containers Still on Vessel or On Hold

Modified on Tue, 3 Jun at 2:28 AM

Overview

If automated appointments are being secured for containers that are still on a vessel or on hold, it may be due to a setting in PortPro that allows scheduling regardless of the container’s status. Some terminals allow this by default, but you can control it in your system.

Where to Adjust This Setting

To manage this behavior, go to:
Settings > Container Tracking > Appointment Settings

Look for the toggle:
“I want to allow appointments to be made if container is on hold”

How It Works

  • Toggled ON: PortPro will allow appointments to be made even if the container is on hold or still on the vessel.

  • Toggled OFF: PortPro will block appointment booking until the hold is cleared or the container is off the vessel.

Why This Matters

Disabling this setting prevents:

  • Wasted appointment slots for unavailable containers

  • Confusion with dispatch scheduling

  • Early appointment attempts that fail at the terminal
